TableTip Launches Kickstarter for Card Game Satirizing Super PACS

The Kickstarter campaign for Super PACS: The Game of Politics About the Game of Politics runs until March 2nd and will feature a virtual primary in parallel to the actual presidential primaries.

TableTip Games, in collaboration with Merlin Pool Games, has launched a Kickstarter campaign for Super PACS: The Game of Politics About the Game of Politics, a card game that satirizes the special interest groups that lift political candidates to power. In addition to asking for funding to manufacture the game, the campaign will run a virtual primary election, where Kickstarter backers can vote for candidates from the game such as "The Hair Piece," "The Presumed Nominee," and "Zombie Neurosurgeon." The results will be posted in a campaign update. "It will be interesting to see how the political leanings of our backers compare to the results of the actual primaries," says Brandon Patton, one of the game's designers.

The game was designed by André Pereira and Brandon Patton. Although Pereira works as a roboticist and Patton plays bass for rapper MC Frontalot, they both design games in their free time. When the two first met, Pereira shared a game he had contributed to called "Here Comes the Troika" that ridicules politics in Europe. Building off of the mechanics of that game, the two set out to create a version inspired by American politics. They started working on the game in December of 2014. "All the research we've done has left us pretty well informed about current events," says Patton. "I can't wait to see how our election turns out. America approaches elections, this year especially, like entertainment. This game is our little contribution to the big show."

The game features over 100 humorous cartoons and caricatures from notable political cartoonists Jeff Danziger (New York Times syndicate) and Phil Hands (Washington State Journal) as well as freelance illustrators Chad Essley (Cartoon Monkey Studio), Jeremy the Artist, and Nuno Saraiva.
